Friend,

It's fair to say that 2020 may have been the worst year ever for
journalism worldwide, and the crisis in journalism is a crisis for
democracy.

As a nonprofit, reader-supported news outlet, the pandemic has posed a
major challenge. Even as we offer detailed coverage of the virus's
spread, the human heartache it has caused, and the economic pain that
has crushed (and is still crushing) workers and families across the
globe—we had to reimagine our workflow and redouble our efforts.

We've survived thus far, however, because our mission is to inform and
inspire—not to chase profits.

But here's the hard truth: we simply won't be here in 2021 and beyond if
those who read and value our journalism don't take that small gesture to
support this work.

Common Dreams is one of the last remaining news outlets that is beholden
not to corporate interests, but to the common good.

That's why we're counting on you now to chip in whatever you can to help
us attain our must-reach, year-end fundraising goal by December 31.
