2020 was a difficult year: A deadly pandemic has spread unchecked for more than nine months. Millions of Americans are terrified of getting sick because they can't afford care. Millions more experienced poverty for the first time. Catastrophic wildfires devastated our communities. And immigrants were subjected to cruel and unjust attacks.

But even amid darkness, there were bright spots.

We elected Joe Biden as president, and Kamala Harris as vice president — the first woman, first South Asian-American, and first Black woman to assume the role. Our campaign received the most votes of any person elected to Congress this year — a clear mandate for our bold agenda. And eight (!) new progressive champions will join me in the House next year.

As I look back on the success of our powerful movement, it becomes clear: everything we accomplished, we fought for together without giving an inch. And, as we prepare for 2021, our reliance on grassroots support to advance our progressive goals will be all the more critical. We can't slow down now.
