[1]Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

Thank you so much to everyone who’s spoken out and signed our petition in
the last 24 hours calling for $2,000 stimulus checks. We’re very
grateful.

But the truth is that whether these checks are $600 or $2,000, that money
won’t be enough for too many working families. Our district is one of the
hardest hit in the country, and the stimulus package will still leave many
of our neighbors in dire need of a helping hand this holiday season.

Some folks are still figuring out how to get by after losing their jobs.
Others are essential workers who are being infected and dying from
COVID-19 at disproportionate rates, even as they make incredible
sacrifices to keep our economy and country running.

[ [link removed] ]We know it’s a difficult time for everyone, but if you can afford it,
we are asking you to split a donation of $9, or whatever you
can, to three incredible organizations in New York who are providing
direct relief to those in need.

100% of your donation will go directly to these relief organizations.

Here’s a bit more about the groups and what they’re working on:

New Immigrant Community Empowerment (also known as NICE) has distributed
over $2 million in cash assistance and 80,000 meals to support immigrant
workers and their families in some of the neighborhoods most devastated by
COVID-19.

Adhikaar, which means rights in Nepali, is a New York-based organization
that works within the Nepali-speaking community to provide direct
services, hands-on training, conferences, and more to make sure Nepali
voices are heard and supported.

Desis Rising Up and Moving (also known as DRUM) was founded in 2000 to
build the power of South Asian and Indo-Caribbean low wage immigrant
workers, youth, and families in New York City. They are meeting the needs
of their community while building long-term power for the future.

[ [link removed] ]Please split a donation between NICE, Adhikaar, and DRUM today to
support their relief work in New York.

We appreciate your support and we wish you a happy holiday season.
