This year has been tough. But with your support VIDEO: Human Rights Wins to Celebrate In the past year you’ve helped free hundreds of unjustly detained people, including human rights defender Narges Mohammadi in Iran, health care worker Alaa Shaaban Hamida in Egypt, and activist Kanybil Noon in South Sudan. The Canadian Federal Court ruled that sending refugee claimants back to the United States under the Safe Third Country Agreement was unconstitutional. Saudi Arabian authorities announced plans to stop using the death penalty against people who were under 18 at the time of the crime. The government of Bangladesh committed to school places for half a million Rohingya refugee children. In Qatar, the government finally announced major reforms to protect migrant workers’ rights. And so much more. >> 41 human rights wins to celebrate right now The human rights implications of the Covid-19 pandemic are huge and ongoing. Repressive legislation brought in by authoritarian countries across the world threatens many of the human rights we have campaigned for over the last 60 years. But there have also been incredible examples of solidarity between neighbours, nations, friends and strangers. These are tough times, but we believe a post Covid-19 world can be a better world. Together we are, and we will, be at the centre of that change. Thank you for being a part of these successes. We could not do any of this vital and life-saving work without you. Sincerely, The Team at Amnesty International in Canada
