As we look back on 2020, it’s important to take stock of just how much of
a standout year it was for right-wing extremism – we had the explosion of
the QAnon conspiracy theories, white nationalist groups using mass
protests against racial injustice as an opportunity to stage violent
clashes on America’s streets, and far-right activists rallying against
COVID-19 safety measures (and even plotting to kidnap a governor), amid so
much more.

People For’s Right Wing Watch was there to cover it all, as the leading
provider of original investigative reporting and research on all the
various parts of the Radical Right movement.

One very recent example of Right Wing Watch’s incredible work that we’re
proud of is a piece by RWW reporter Karim Zidan unspooling the story of
how Kyle Rittenhouse has become a cause célèbre among right-wing activists
in America and abroad, and the focus of a new far-right battleground.
Rittenhouse is the 17-year-old gunman who shot three protesters at a Black
Lives Matter demonstration in Kenosha, Wisconsin on August 25, killing two
of them.

It’s a gripping narrative that’s important in understanding – and
countering – the rapidly evolving trends that fuel the far-right movement.
And this vital service, of tracking and reporting on the Far Right, is
work that we can do only because of the help of People For members and
supporters like you.

Right Wing Watch’s reporting is a critical tool in the fight against the
Far Right’s increasing normalization of extreme white nationalists, and
the white nationalist movement’s attempts to recruit and radicalize more
