Dear Friends,
I cannot tell a lie. The last year has been a hard one—for all of us!
In fact, so many curve balls have been thrown at this country in the past 12 months that it’s easy to want to throw in the towel and let the tide carry one where it will.
Don’t.
This Christmas, I give that directive to myself as well. As I’ve pondered all the difficulties of the year, I’ve been increasingly impressed with the need to rest, to trust in the Lord, to look forward with hope even when everything looks dark. Such hope isn’t something I should keep to myself; in fact, the realization that others need hope keeps me looking for glimmers of it wherever possible, just so I can pass it along and share it with our readers.
Judging from the feedback I receive, such hope is a great encouragement. Readers report being stretched in their viewpoint and thinking, appreciate that truth is shared in a loving, gentle manner, and are uplifted to hear voices of reason and common sense in a world that increasingly makes little sense. And as I see our readers encouraged, I find that my joy and encouragement grow as well.
Such a cycle of mutual advancement and encouragement one of the objectives to which Charlemagne Institute strives. Too many Americans look at the results of the election, the riots, and the economic struggles and, in their COVID-induced isolation, feel that they are alone in the world, that there is nobody left with good ol’ common sense.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
And so we fight on, seeking to expand our knowledge. We stand arm and arm with others who reject the values the PC culture holds dear, building immunity from what C.S. Lewis termed “the great cataract of nonsense that pours from the press and the microphone of [our] age.”
I’m guessing that you, like myself, don’t want to give up, but want to keep fighting for truth and righteousness in this age. While we can fight on alone, we can both do so much more effectively and efficiently if we fight together. |
