When Feminist Activists Walk The Path Of Resilience, UAF Has Their Backs!

The women, girls, LGBTQI+ and, gender non-conforming human rights defenders that Urgent Action Fund supports embody the spirit Carrie spoke about. From country to country, our grantees give themselves to feminist movements, resisting, and fighting for a future we all deserve.
Make A Gift And Stand With Feminist Activism
Activists are standing up to violent extremism in Kazakhstan, defending reproductive rights in Poland, developing community-led solutions to climate change in Canada, and demanding justice for Black lives—who are too often victims of police brutality in the U.S.
 
It takes a lot of courage to walk a different path than the one that society has prescribed. Backlash is almost certain. But when feminist activists walk that path, UAF has their backs. 
2020 magnified discriminations and inequalities experienced across gender identity, race, class, immigration status, and geography in ways we have never seen. To meet this moment, UAF stood by activists by deploying over $1.1 million to frontline human rights defenders, awarding over 260 rapid response grants, and by granting for the first time in Italy, Tajikistan, Alaska, Rhode Island, and Puerto Rico.
