Dear John,
This is the final Weekly Digest we’ll be sending in 2020! On behalf of the entire Ms. staff, I want to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support during this entirely unprecedented, very unpredictable year. Sitting down to write this holiday letter late last year, I never could have predicted what 2020 would look like. And now—looking forward to 2021—I’m much more cautious—too cautious to try to predict anything these days.
But I will leave you with few things I am sure of:
One, I am infinitely grateful to you, our readers, for your support of our work here at Ms. magazine. We couldn’t have continued our reporting, rebelling and truth-telling through a long four years of the Trump administration and the last 10 months of the pandemic without you reading the magazine and MsMagazine.com, listening to our debut podcast, On The Issues with Michele Goodwin, and following us on social media. You can catch up on the best of MsMagazine.com below — we’ve rounded up the 10 most popular articles from Ms. this year, as well as some other wonderful year-end content that I know you’ll enjoy.
Two, I am hopeful for the year to come. This November, voters shattered the vice-presidential glass ceiling by electing Kamala Harris, the first woman and first Black and South Asian vice president, and just this month, Covid-19 vaccinations began here in the U.S. At the end of a very dark year, there is hope.
Finally, we must stay vigilant in the ongoing fight for equality—there is still much work to do, as the outgoing Trump administration is causing as much damage as possible on their way out the door. We also need to double our efforts moving forward, to rebuild as a country that is truly equal and just, for all of us.
With that, I wish you a very happy and safe holidays. Until next year, get some rest and get ready—the fight continues.
For equality,
Kathy Spillar
