I’ve been inside ICE detention centers. My heart breaks for anyone spending a holiday there.

John, I hope your holidays are warm and safe, and
that you’re surrounded by the comfort of family (virtually, at least).

I struggle this time of year. I have been inside of ICE detention centers, I’ve
talked to families behind bars, and I can imagine what the holidays are like inside : monitored by uniformed guards, your every move mapped in a maze of chain link
fence, and a gnawing uncertainty as to when — or if — you’ll ever be free.

Amnesty is urgently calling on people of conscience — people like you,
John — to rise up and demand an end to this inhumane
treatment. When you make a tax-deductible gift to Amnesty, your gift will go twice as far
thanks to a matching gift.
[[link removed]] That’s twice the impact for asylum-seekers, for families threatened with
separation, and for human rights worldwide.

John, you’re one of our stalwart supporters, but our
records* show that you haven’t made a year-end gift to Amnesty yet. Give today
and double your impact.

Who are these families in ICE custody? Just recently, we succeeded in helping
win freedom for Juana* and her four-year-old daughter Norma*, after they spent
over a year in a detention facility in Texas. They came to the U.S. fleeing
violence in Honduras, after gang members repeatedly threatened Juana with rape
and murder.

But John, we have more work to do, and it couldn’t be
more urgent, as the Trump administration goes into overdrive. Your gift to Amnesty right now makes 2X the impact
[[link removed]] — keeping our researchers on the front lines, getting our reports in the hands
of lawmakers, and driving letters and phone calls.

These families came to this country fleeing violence and seeking asylum. They should be free while they make their case. With your help, we’ll continue
to expose the inhumane treatment in ICE centers, work with Congress to call on
ICE to free people from detention, and bring thousands of voices together,
demanding change.

We’ll continue to win freedom for individuals and families seeking safety.

The clock is ticking. Please, make a special year-end gift to support Amnesty’s work to free these
families
[[link removed]] — and your gift before the end of the month will be doubled.

Wishing you a warm and safe holiday season,

Denise Bell
