It is important to recognize the toll social isolation and loneliness can take on health. Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, which helped push the topic into more conversations, Nauzley Abedini and coauthors wrote a blog post about social isolation, explaining that it is associated with billions of dollars in health care costs each year and can worsen chronic disease and
other behavioral health challenges.
