As we celebrate the holidays and head into the New Year, it goes without saying it's been a difficult year.
The coronavirus has caused so much pain for so many families -- small businesses have closed, workers have lost jobs, and too many have lost their lives. Over 300,000 families will have an empty chair at their tables.
The pandemic has also laid bare the inequities facing workers in our country every day -- especially the frontline workers like grocery store clerks and delivery drivers, who corporations don't pay enough to begin with and who are putting themselves at risk to keep our country going during the busy holiday season.
But as we look to 2021, I have hope. We're on a path to build back our country better and stronger than before, because grassroots supporters like you stepped up and took action this year. What you did this year mattered. Because of you, we elected a new president and a history-making vice president, and they will make a real difference in people's lives. Thank you.
We have a lot of work to do, but I'm confident that we can do it together.
I hope you and your loved ones have a happy, safe, and restful holiday. And thank you again for continuing to do your part to slow the spread of this virus, as we work to end this pandemic. While I know that will mean sacrifices for so many this holiday season, I hope you are able to take comfort in loved ones, whether near or far. And as you celebrate, I hope you will consider giving back to those in your community who need an extra hand this year -- whether it's donating to a food bank, volunteering your time, or checking in on a neighbor who may be alone this holiday.
With gratitude and wishing you and your loved ones the happiest holidays,
Sherrod
