Dear compatriot
We did not think we would be in touch again quite so soon, but here we are.
Today's Brexit Agreement announcement by our Prime Minister, which had the air of a conjurer pulling a rabbit out of his hat as the curtain closed, is being held up as an example of tough British negotiation.
Lurking in the detail is something much less acceptable and this is the element which spurs this letter.
In the 'Governance and EU Pre-Conditions' section (see here <[link removed]> for the whole text or below* for an image snapshot) the agreement stipulates:
"Reciprocal ability to suspend (the trade agreement) in case of serious and systemic concerns on data protection or *terminate in case of particular human rights concerns* (*agreement will be terminated on date of leaving European Convention on Human Rights*)."
This means that both this convention's standing above British law and the foreign court established to advance its principles and the UK Human Rights Act (1998) which enshrined its principles into British law are inviolable - cannot be touched.
Emanating from these untouchable so-called 'rights' are the cases that generate so many of the outrageous headlines to which our readers will be very familiar. These include those preventing our country deporting dangerous criminals and undesirables or using British taxpayers' contributions to fund the growing body of legal activists who are using a system of lawfare against the decisions of elected politicians and wishes of the populace. This situation allows a cabal of activist lawyers to exhaust every false legal avenue making the deportation of over a million illegal immigrants impossible, due to the prohibitive expense. We have had enough excuses from our Home Secretaries on why their hands are tied, this agreement would provide an excuse in perpetuity for them and for their public apologists.
At this late hour, it may be that the so-called 'Conservative' Party have created a fait accompli. The often Woke multinationals who are happy to fund them are very keen on both trade access and mass immigration. This is a win-win for international financial businesses, which the Conservatives are therefore not likely to overturn. But one window of opportunity remains for UK residents: direct constituent pressure upon their Members of Parliament.
Please therefore *enquire whether your own MP supports this deal*: either by emailing directly from here [link removed] (or via the House of Commons site here <[link removed]>) and tell them of your strong concerns. Let us know what you find out!
Lastly, let me add that you may sympathise with some 'human rights' but the issue is that these rights must be decided in Britain, applied fairly to all and which are able to be changed as attitudes shift, not imposed externally. That's not "Taking Back Control", but giving it to Europe.
Finally, on the eve of Christmas, we wish you a peaceful, happy and holy festive break with your loved ones.
Regards
Edward Littlewood and the wider TBG
