Friends,
Now that summer’s over and we’re headed into autumn in Upstate New York, I wanted to take this chance to update you on what I’ve been up to across the district.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working to serve our brave men and women in the military, improve access to affordable housing, end gun violence, help young people afford college, and take on climate change. Change starts with us -- so read more about these issues and share them with your friends.
Between Labor Day and my boys jumping into a brand new school year, it was a busy end to another fantastic summer in Upstate New York. Here’s just a few of the highlights.
Summer may be over, but we’ll be keeping up the hard work that we’ve been doing since I took office in January -- and continuing the conversation with the people of this district who’ve entrusted me to lookout for them in Congress. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks.
We are facing an affordable housing crisis. Eleven million Americans spend more than half their paycheck on rent. Nearly two-thirds of renters nationwide say they can’t afford to buy a home. And with housing prices rising at twice the rate of wage growth, the crisis is likely only going to get worse.
In Upstate New York, I’ve been holding roundtable discussions on affordable housing in Hudson and Kingston, listening to residents who desperately want to be able to buy a home or afford the home they are in.
In Congress, I’m fighting to lower housing costs by co-sponsoring the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2019, which would add 1.9 million units of affordable housing nationwide and create tens of thousands of jobs over the next decade.
