Hi John,
I need to be blunt for a minute:
Anyone who is only focused on winning the White House this November is making a mistake.
That line of thinking among Democrats is why gerrymandering is still so prevalent, why we're
still fighting for reproductive freedom, why voters are being suppressed, and why Republicans have controlled a majority of state legislative seats this past decade.
If we underinvest in local elections, real progress will continue to come at a snail's pace. As a party, as a movement, we have to do it all.
That's why Run for Something is working to pick up the pace by supporting over 500 campaigns of young, diverse progressives running in 47 states and D.C.
But whether or not they win in November depends on people like you investing in them.
Pitch in $3 (or more) to support the over 500 Run for Something candidates on the ballot this November (and help us recruit more like them).

Now, I'm not saying caring about the White House and defeating Trump is bad -- it's absolutely essential to the future of our planet.
What I
am saying is that supporting local and state candidates
would actually help Democrats take back the White House and flip the Senate. Here's how:
Local candidates generate turnout and reach voters (especially in underrepresented communities) that a presidential candidate simply can't or won’t allocate resources towards.
For example, municipal candidates in cities like Atlanta, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Philadelphia can run up the score in key states for a Democratic candidate at the top of the ticket. At a much lower cost, too. (And especially during this time with so much campaigning happening over local personal networks, our candidates are better able to reach voters personally.)
But if we don't invest strategically, the reverse could also happen: Biden could win a state like Texas but we could fail to flip the 9 seats Democrats need in the Texas state House -- meaning the TX GOP would then unfairly redraw the maps as part of the redistricting process, pass even more strict voter suppression laws, and ensure a Democrat never wins Texas again.
We're talking about building permanent power this November. We have to do it all. And Run for Something is the only organization exclusively committed to electing young progressives to down-ballot seats everywhere.
Our budget is small, but every dollar really matters. And we count on grassroots supporters to keep our work going. Will you be one of them? Pitch $3 or whatever you can afford.
Thanks,
Amanda
