John xxxxxx,
As you know, this pandemic has made things all the more difficult for folks in our communities already struggling with hunger and poverty. Just turn on your TV and you’ll see long lines of people all over the country hoping to receive food and basic necessities that they can no longer afford. It’s worse than I’ve ever seen.
The holiday season is always a time for giving back and lending a helping hand to our neighbors, and this year it’s all the more crucial.
That’s why I wanted to reach out before Christmas to ask if you’ll join me in supporting four impactful organizations here in New York’s 8th congressional district: the Campaign Against Hunger, St. John’s Bread & Life, Brooklyn Rescue Mission, and Met Council.
The Campaign Against Hunger has been providing meals and nutrition resources to folks in Bed-Stuy since 2018. Since the COVID-19 crisis began in March, they’ve provided more than 11.5 million meals to almost 1.3 million individuals.
St. John’s Bread & Life compassionately provides food and social services without discrimination to people in need in Brooklyn and Queens, and are a key voice in the fight against hunger.
Brooklyn Rescue Mission Urban Harvest Center provides healthy food, provisions and family services to Central Brooklyn’s neediest residents. They’ve been working hard to provide emergency food relief to those impacted by unemployment and food insecurity as a result of this pandemic.
Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy and fighting poverty, and are providing food to the hungry in our community through their COVID-19 Emergency Crisis Fund.
If you can chip in any amount to these organizations, it will make a real difference in the lives of those struggling to put food on the table in the middle of this devastating pandemic.
Thank you for all you do. From my family to yours, may you have a healthy, happy, and safe holiday.
