John,
This year has been quite a journey. From the onset of a pandemic that shook the entire world, to millions of us protesting in the streets for racial justice, to the most important presidential election we've been a part of, 2020 has not fallen short of historic moments.
Yet, amidst the constant uncertainties, one thing has remained clear --
our movement is here to stay. Our struggle has been embedded in the collective conscience of a nation, and
we will not rest until there is real, aggressive, bold change.
That's why right now, we have our eyes fixed on Georgia. Whether Mitch McConnell retains his title of Senate Majority leader will be determined by the results of the Senate runoffs, and we are doing
everything we can to make sure Rev. Warnock and Jon Ossoff bring home a victory.
We've set an ambitious fundraising goal of $500,000 to hit before the end of the year, and we only have 8 days left to hit it. Together, we can mobilize community volunteers, increase voter outreach efforts, and strengthen our ad programs. We made a difference in November, and we can do it again in January with your help. We're pouring all the resources we have into the runoffs because we've lived through the harm of a Senate led by Mitch McConnell and other Trump-aiding politicians.
At the height of a deadly pandemic, Mitch McConnell has continuously abused his power -- rushing through a dangerous Supreme Court nominee and
going on vacation while other folks in both the House and Senate were trying to pass crucial COVID-19 relief.
Because of Mitch McConnell, it took
8 months to pass a second stimulus package -- during a pandemic that has
disproportionately impacted Black and brown communities.
This merely sheds light on the structural racism that has
always limited access to health and wealth for our communities. In fact, Black people are dying from COVID-19 at nearly 2x the rate of white people, with our own folks in frontline positions lacking PPE, financial support, and insurance benefits.
We've been shown that our work is essential, but our lives are not.
We can't give up now, because the future is in our hands. That starts with electing Rev. Warnock and Jon Ossoff to the Senate so we can get Mitch McConnell out of power. Will you help fuel these critical voter outreach efforts before the end of 2020?
Together, we can create a more decent future, but only if we collectively meet this moment with the energy it requires.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter PAC
