Big Tech executives gave big to President-elect Joe Biden, but that’s still not a reason to break up Big Tech. New analysis of Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings expose how much support high-level employees of companies like Facebook, Twitter, Alphabet, and Amazon gave to the presidential candidates and other races. Not surprisingly, they overwhelmingly supported Biden over President Donald Trump. But while breaking up Big Tech might sound simple, it threatens the innovation that we depend on. It’s a path conservatives, independents, and liberals should be very wary to pursue.

New York U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will take any chance to attack Amazon, even using misleading claims to do so. Recently, AOC tweeted that Amazon warehouse jobs are a “scam,” and responded to a Bloomberg story that said 4,000 Amazon workers were on food stamps according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report. She blamed low wages. But blaming low wages on why some workers manage to qualify for food assistance is misleading. Stories of employed workers struggling to make ends meet should spur us to pursue policies that encourage their economic mobility while meeting their individual needs, rather than one-size-fits-all policies that will leave them dependent on the government and competing for fewer opportunities.

Allowing male-bodied athletes to play competitive women’s sports decreases opportunities for biological females to succeed at the highest levels and undermines the integrity of single sex sports.

Congress may have managed to pull off a Christmas miracle: another COVID-19 relief package. Missing from the negotiated agreement is a blue-state bailout or direct aid to states and local governments that would have benefitted states like New York and California, whose budgets are busted, at the expense of states that managed their finances better. Perhaps the most concerning aspect of this package is that it will not be the end.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) research on the chemical ethylene oxide offers a perfect example of the adverse impacts of government-generated junk science and the importance of correcting it when it happens. In this case, a study created by a research arm of the EPA known as the Integrated Risk Assessment (IRIS) vastly overstated risks associated with this chemical, which is used to sterilize about half of the nation’s medical supplies.
