After months of leaving the American people out to dry in a pandemic, a bipartisan coalition in Congress announced support for adding in stimulus checks — of only $600.
With millions of Americans losing their jobs, housing, health insurance and more, $600 just won’t cut it. That’s why Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib wrote an amendment adding back $2,000 checks into the stimulus.
Now, this amendment has support from Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and even President Trump. This bill could pass this week — but first, we need to get Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans on board.

Fellow progressive, make no mistake: the reason that Congress is considering adding in $2,000 checks back in the first place is because of the widespread backlash to the $600 proposal.
And once we get this passed, we’re not going to stop at one-time checks of $2,000 — we’re going to fight for expanded unemployment insurance benefits, monthly checks, rent moratoriums, student loan debt cancellation, and more.
But first, we need to seize the momentum of bipartisan support for this amendment and force Mitch McConnell and the Senate GOP to pass this much needed amendment granting $2,000 survival checks.
