Happy Holidays!

I'm honored and privileged to be writing this newsletter ([link removed]) to you as Congresswoman-elect for Georgia's 7th Congressional District. The months since my last newsletter to you have been a whirlwind for me and my family. After coming so close to flipping this seat in 2018 — just 433 votes, to be exact — this year, we finished the job ([link removed]). And for the first time in 20 years, a Democrat will be representing the people of this district in Congress come January.

I couldn't be more grateful to my team and my supporters like you, who poured so much heart into our movement. This campaign was powered by more than 100 organizers, fellows, and interns who mobilized thousands of first-time voters to get to the polls. I'm so proud of their work. My team helped more than 20,000 Georgians register to vote by mail and return their ballot, and they contacted nearly 100,000 people this cycle to attend an event or take action with our campaign. We broke records ([link removed]) — and then we made history.

We did it by mobilizing the communities that call Georgia's 7th home, and believing we deserve leadership that celebrates diversity. My win is a credit to the voters of color, younger voters, and women who believed change was possible. We ran a multilingual voter turnout effort in Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and Hindi, and I held regular virtual roundtables to reach diverse communities, like our South Asian Roundtable ([link removed]), Korean Roundtable ([link removed]), Chinese Roundtable ([link removed]), Faith Leaders Roundtable ([link removed]), and Divine Nine Roundtable ([link removed]).

And thanks to people like you chipping in what you could, we smashed fundraising records, raising $5.5 million without taking corporate PAC money. Thank you!

We made history by flipping this seat — the only congressional district to flip from red to blue in 2020 ([link removed]). We were critical in the effort to flip Georgia for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Now, we're gearing up to make history again by electing Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock to the United States Senate. My team has pivoted to help get voters to the polls for the January 5th runoff election, and we're pounding the pavement to make sure Georgians get out to vote in record-breaking numbers ([link removed]).

I'm also hard at work setting up my new offices in Washington, DC and in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Orientation for new members of Congress looked a little different this year — COVID-19 safety precautions meant I was learning the ropes from Zoom rooms instead of on the House floor ([link removed]). Even with these limitations, it was still absolutely humbling and such an honor. And I did get away a few times to visit the Capitol.

I'm looking forward to fighting for our values in Washington. From expanding quality, affordable health care to getting our economy back on track after this pandemic, there is a lot of work to do — and I'm ready to hit the ground running. I’ve already received my first committee assignment to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and anyone who has sat in traffic on I-85 and 400 in the Atlanta area knows how important addressing congestion is to the economic and environmental health of this region. We’ve also been working hard to hire staff and organize the congressional office ([link removed]).

The road to get here has been long, and I want to thank each and every one of you for your support. It's thanks to you that I'm headed to Washington, DC in January. I truly couldn't have done it without you.

Happy Holidays to you and yours, and I will see you all in the new year!

In hope and faith,

Carolyn
