After months of wasting precious time and allowing people to go hungry, congressional Republicans finally agreed to $600 checks to help working folks and families get by.
They also threw in $200 billion in tax breaks for corporations and special interest groups, three martini business lunches, and — at the direct request of Mitch McConnell — a commission to oversee horse racing.
Now, Donald Trump is saying folks deserve a clean COVID-19 relief bill and $2,000 in direct payments. I never thought I’d say this, but the truth is — he’s right.
Add your name next to mine calling on Congressional Republicans to support a stand-alone COVID-19 relief bill that includes $2,000 in direct payment:
While Senate Republicans have sat idly by for the last nine months, COVID-19 has continued to ravage our communities. Millions of people are still unemployed, more small businesses are shuttering every day, and folks are drowning in medical debt — and if we don’t take action now, we could be facing a tidal wave of evictions in the new year.
If we can find money to fund endless wars and give billionaires tax breaks, then we can afford to give working-class people the relief they need and deserve.
We’re ready to put $2,000 in the hands of each and every person who needs it — and to do it the right way.
Our voice is louder when we speak together. Add your name to call on my colleagues in Congress to support a stand-alone relief package that includes $2,000 in direct payments!
In solidarity,
Ilhan
