The president-elect officially asked Fauci to be his chief medical adviser, and to continue leading the country’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Fauci “said yes right on the spot” -- and we couldn’t be more excited.
Throughout the pandemic, Dr. Fauci has relied on science, promoted comprehensive safety measures, and never hesitated to challenge Trump and the GOP’s false statements or dangerous practices. We’re so glad he’ll have a voice in the Biden administration -- but the legions of Trump supporters who chanted “Fire Fauci!” on the campaign trail will feel differently.
