Every year around this time, I sit down (virtually) with my finance team to take stock of things so we can plan for the new year. Hitting our end-of-year fundraising goal helps us prepare for the challenges ahead, no matter where the road takes us.
I'm going to be honest — normally, we'd wait until the final week in December to start bugging you about this. But I saw a headline in the news the other day that made me feel like we should really get a head start:

"'Prepare for war'"
You read that right. Elected officials here in our own backyard are instigating violence on social media, refusing to accept President-elect Joe Biden as the victor. This isn't the first time any of us have read this kind of hogwash, but it's downright frightening to see politicians who swore to serve our nation, no matter what, call for violence against our own country.
I'm not here to argue that Biden is the victor; we all know he won the presidency fair and square. What I am asking for is some perspective. There's a reason why I am working to fix Congress around the clock, because our fight against corruption doesn't end with the Trump presidency.
I'm going to need a strong grassroots team by my side every step of the way next year, and the time to invest in this fight is right now. Can I count on you to chip in $17 — or whatever you can — toward our $20,000 end-of-year goal? Every little bit you chip in will help us hit the ground running in 2021.
