John,
There's no doubt that this holiday looks different for all of us. For many, this holiday season brings more daunting challenges than ever before. On top of braving the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of families are also facing hunger, housing insecurity, and unemployment.
In a country as rich and powerful as ours, it's outrageous that these basic needs aren't being met. But with Mitch McConnell's GOP lackeys blocking meaningful COVID-19 relief and financial aid, an incredible burden has been put on food banks in our communities. In Rep. Porter's home district in Orange County, cars line up around the block every day. That's why we're asking you to join Rep. Porter is supporting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County today, John.
We've witnessed one unimaginable crisis unfold after another this year, and it's hard to not feel weary. Especially when some politicians won't step up to do their job and pass meaningful legislation.
But amidst the crisis, one thing about 2020 is that many of us have stepped up for the ones we love—and even for strangers we'll never meet.
Whether it's by skipping a birthday party to flatten the curve, going grocery shopping for a neighbor, protesting for a more just country, or making donations to the causes we care passionately about, we've consistently shown up for each other and our communities, in big ways and small.
Thank you for being a part of this team and for stepping up to show support for our candidates, causes, and communities. We're excited to continue this work with you through the rest of this year, into 2021 and beyond.
Happy holidays,
The Truth to Power team
