Dear John,

My name is Jayleesha, and I am a Girls Inc. National Scholar and high school senior from Omaha. Hearing the younger girls at Girls Inc. say they want to be like me when they get older makes me feel grateful: grateful to Girls Inc. and supporters like you for helping me become the leader I am today, and grateful to the girls for allowing me to be an example to them.

When I joined in kindergarten, Girls Inc. became like a second home, helping me to build confidence and come out of my shell. Since then, I founded my school’s Black Student Union, taught dance classes for the younger girls, and joined the slam poetry team, Mock Trial, and the Feminist Club.

Through Girls Inc., I interned with the Douglas County Attorney’s office, which confirmed my desire to become a lawyer and make the judicial system fairer. I look forward to attending the University of Chicago this fall, where I plan to major in sociology and political science. Thanks to your support, Girls Inc. has given me the gift of knowing that I can become whatever I want to be, no matter my gender.

By making a gift today, you can give even more girls like me the opportunity to grow up strong, smart, and bold. Thank you and happy holidays!

Sincerely,

Jayleesha
