Dear John:

We all know what it’s like to feel lonely, these last nine months have been some of the loneliest in our shared history. With the December holidays upon us and lockdowns imminent across the country, the call to be there for each other is more urgent than ever before. Act now to help us bring our community together safely.

Members of our community are no strangers to isolation. Over 53% of LGBTQI2S seniors already felt alone before the pandemic hit. Many youth were already struggling with mental health issues and challenging family dynamics, and LGBTQI2S people everywhere continue to face exclusion, rejection and othering at home, work, school, and social situations. Challenges and inequities have been amplified by the pandemic, and we need each other now more than ever.

With your help, Egale will continue to bring our community together safely through engaging virtual and safe in-person programs. Through our research, training and resources, we will work to build a more inclusive, equal and equitable post-COVID world - a Canada where all are equal, and none is other.

If you share this vision, please take a moment today to donate to Egale’s #HomeNotAlone campaign. The time is now to help make a change.

A one-time gift today will help us remind everyone in our community that although they might be stuck at home, they never have to feel alone.

Thank you for being part of the Egale community. We are all wishing you and your loved ones a safe and restful holiday season,

Helen Kennedy
