Do you have a minute to make sure refugee children and their families are not forgotten?

John,

During the last few days of this holiday week, I hope you can consider adding a last-minute gift for a refugee child, like Muhammad, to your shopping list.

Muhammad and his family — in the photo above — fled Syria in 2013 and now live in a refugee camp in Jordan. He suffers from asthma and with cold weather coming, his father fears his condition will become worse.

"Winter is really difficult in the camp, especially for Muhammad's health condition," says Manhal, Muhammad's father. "He visits the IRC clinic every month to take his asthma inhalers." COVID-19 is also a concern for Muhammad. People with conditions like his are at risk of getting severely ill from the virus.

John, we need to make sure refugee children and their families get through this winter and the pandemic safely.

John: Can you add a gift for a refugee child to your shopping list? Your gift today can, for example, help us provide refugee children like Muhammad and their families around the world with warm winter clothes, medicine, virtual schooling and other support.

In addition to health concerns, Muhammad is facing barriers to education. He doesn't have a mobile phone and internet needed to access remote education.

More than 1 billion children worldwide have faced school closures related to COVID-19 and refugee children now face a double crisis because this health emergency is also disrupting their opportunity to learn and thrive.

This holiday season, you can give joy and much-needed support to refugees. For example:

The IRC is providing health services, education and other vital support to refugee families around the world during the pandemic and the cold winter months.

We are committed to supporting refugee children who, like Muhammad, have already faced so much this year. But we need your support.

Thank you for giving joy to refugee children and families around the world.

Wishing you a peaceful and healthy holiday season,

Your gift allows us to deliver comprehensive and holistic help to uprooted people and will be used where and when most needed. And, when combined with those of other donors, your gift becomes a powerful means to support our lifesaving work, including education, health care, emergency support and job training for refugee families worldwide.
