Dear Friends,

Yesterday, the House and Senate passed more emergency coronavirus relief to provide direct assistance to struggling Americans. Although this bill is far from perfect, I've already begun organizing critical priorities for another relief package once President-elect Biden takes office.

This new relief package includes the following assistance:

• Stimulus Checks: $2,400 for a family of four, regardless of employment status, including mixed-status families ($600 per adult, $600 per dependent child)
• Unemployment Insurance: An additional $300 per week in federal unemployment insurance (on top of state payments) up to 11 weeks
• $50 billion for COVID-19 testing, contact tracing, vaccines, and distribution
• $25 billion for a new Emergency Rental Relief Program
• An extension of the federal eviction moratorium until January 31, 2021
• $13 billion for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
• $284 billion for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans
• $9 billion for small business lenders in underserved communities
• $15 billion for live, independent music and arts venues
• $82 billion for colleges and schools

As these resources become available to Angelenos, I will update constituents on social media and via email on how to get connected to these programs.

I've heard from many constituents about how this relief simply isn't enough, and I agree. That's why I will not stop fighting until we pass another assistance package. Here are the priorities I'm fighting for:

• The Emergency Money for the People Act, which would send $2,000 monthly checks - retroactive to the start of this pandemic - to Americans making less than $130,000 per year
• Long-term rent relief and an eviction moratorium
• Student loan debt forgiveness through executive action
• Hazard pay for essential workers
• Robust paid leave during and beyond this pandemic
