Dear John,

I am relieved to let you know that the House and Senate have finally passed another round of COVID-19 relief legislation. While this aid package does not include all of the funding we fought for, with millions of Americans urgently needing additional assistance and benefits created in the CARES Act expiring, we needed to act now.

Thanks to this new legislation, folks experiencing unemployment will once again receive federal unemployment insurance, the eviction moratorium will be continued, vaccine distribution will be funded, millions of businesses will have the funding they need to stay open, and much more. The package includes:

- $600 stimulus checks per adult and child
- $300 per week in enhanced unemployment insurance
- $25 billion in rental assistance
- $325 billion for small businesses
- $13 billion in increased SNAP and child nutrition benefits
- $10 billion for child care assistance

I am particularly proud to announce that the bipartisan package includes two proposals I introduced: funding for a second round of Paycheck Protection Program loans and an extension of the Small Business Debt Relief Program. I worked hard to ensure these measures were included, and they will provide critical support for small businesses during this crisis.

This bill is a reasonable compromise and a step in the right direction that will help Americans facing eviction, hunger, joblessness, and homelessness.

But this fight is far from over, and this latest package only begins to address the serious problems that Americans are facing. When President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are sworn in, we will have to pass another round of aid.

I promise that I will keep fighting until you and your family get the support you need and deserve.

Thank you,

Chris
