Friend, Trader Joe’s is a laggard on transparency. At the bare minimum, Trader Joe's should issue a public sustainability report on its practices - but it fails to even meet this mark. Massive public pressure from individuals and civil society over the past 20 years has pushed for corporate accountability, and most companies are responding by rolling out goals and targets to curb their negative impacts – oh, and publicly reporting on their progress. But not Trader Joe's - its vague blog post on sustainability just doesn't cut it. Without transparency, it’s nearly impossible to track which companies have met commitments and which are just hiding behind “green” or “feel good” marketing. That’s why Green America and Environmental Investigation Agency have teamed up to push Trader Joe’s on its lack of transparency on climate and labor practices. We’re telling Trader Joe’s to stop emitting climate-damaging gases and support efforts to end labor injustices in its chocolate supply chains. And we’re urging the company to up its transparency across the board. Join us in telling Trader Joe’s: Don’t Discount Our Future! Thank you for all that you do, |
