Hi John,

After four years under Trump’s anti-women administration, pro-choice members of Congress are moving to repeal the Hyde Amendment and expand abortion access for women from low-income communities.

The Hyde Amendment, created by Henry Hyde three years after Roe v. Wade as a way to restrict access to abortion care, blocks federal funding for abortion costs and disproportionately affects women of color who rely on Medicaid for their health care.

Republicans have long defended the discriminatory act as part of the GOP’s long history of trying to control what women can and can’t do with their bodies -- but with a new administration on its way, it’s past time we act.

“Now is the time to empower all women to make deeply personal life decisions without politicians inserting themselves into the doctor’s office.” Those are the words of Representative Rosa DeLauro, and we couldn’t agree more. But with Mitch McConnell potentially keeping control of the Senate, we’ll need overwhelming public support to end this assault on women’s health care. That’s why we’re reaching out to you today. Please, tell us where you stand:

Do you support repealing the Hyde Amendment?
