Hello JFI colleagues, We hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Welcome to this week's #MigrationMonday!
Below are the Spanish and English language versions of the #MigrationMonday memes for this week. Please share the images on your social media accounts, which are also on the JFI website.
Please save the date for the next Justice for Immigrants National Call on Thursday, October 3rd at 3 PM Eastern.
Please see the note below about an event happening today with our friends at Network!
On September 23th at 2:00 pm, Catholic Sisters and Interfaith leaders will gather for a spirit-filled day of action on Capitol Hill. All are welcome to join us. The event will draw together interfaith groups from all over, with the purpose of demanding that Congress reduce funding for deportation, detention, and border militarization, ahead of the debate over the Department of Homeland Security's appropriation bill.
Right now our elected officials are determining next year's funding for the Department of Homeland Security. We believe that the federal budget is a moral document that reflects the priorities of our nation. That's why we've collected over 4,000 signatures in a letter circulated earlier this month which we plan to deliver to key senate offices following a rally on the Senate side of the U.S Capitol.
Families belong together. This Administration's thoughtless and cruel policies have incarcerated children, caused immeasurable trauma, and sowed fear and uncertainty in immigrant communities across the nation. We urge the Senate to reject funding for deportation and detention activities. The Administration's approach is deadly, immoral, illegal, and counterproductive.
