Friend,
Today, we have something to celebrate.
The next federal relief package includes $13 Billion for SNAP benefits (formerly called food stamps) and other food aid.
As our CEO Joel Berg said in a statement about the much-needed recovery bill, with malnourished people in this country more likely to contract and suffer fatal symptoms from COVID-19, this bill is “literally life-saving.”
However, we all know that food insecurity was a problem in the United States long before the pandemic, and it will be a problem after.
President-elect Joe Biden needs to prioritize expanding food aid and tackling the problems that cause food insecurity in the first place. That includes creating jobs, expanding wages, and fighting for more affordable housing and healthcare.
There is no quick fix to hunger, but ending hunger is possible. While we celebrate today's victory, which equals about $260 of food aid to each of the 50 million Americans currently struggling with food insecurity, we still need your help. We’ll continue advocating for additional food aid throughout 2021, and we hope you’ll join us.
Donate $25 today to help us organize the grassroots fight against hunger and reach our $10,000 end of year goal by December 31>>>

Thank you,
Team HFA
