I'm so proud of this bipartisan accomplishment.

THE WASHINGTON POST:
“In rare bipartisan climate agreement, senators forge plan to slash use of potent greenhouse gas”

We could all use more good news, and John, I’m excited to share with you great news for our economy and our planet.

Last night, Congress passed a COVID relief and government spending package that included my bipartisan legislation to phase down one of the most potent greenhouse gases and one of the most harmful drivers of climate change.

Hydrofluorocarbons are in almost every American household. They’re in our air conditioners, our refrigerators, and our cars. They’re also heating up our planet with a global warming effect that's thousands of times more potent than carbon. My legislation would phase down HFCs in the U.S. by 85% over the next 15 years, protecting the future of our planet while driving meaningful economic growth.

I’m incredibly proud that my colleagues from both sides of the aisle came together to pass the most significant piece of climate legislation in decades.

Will you add your name and become a citizen co-sponsor of this landmark climate action today?

Our bipartisan legislation, poised to become law, would:

  • Initiate an 85% phase down of HFCs nationwide over the next 15 years
  • Help our planet avoid a half-degree Celsius in global warming by joining the rest of the world to phase down HFCs
  • Support investments in environmentally friendly HFC replacements
  • Help to create 150,000 new American jobs over the next decade
  • Increase U.S. manufacturing output by $39 billion over the next seven years

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing us, and it will take grassroots activists all over standing up and taking action to combat it. John: Add your name and become a citizen co-sponsor of my bipartisan measure to protect our planet and fight climate change.

All the best --

TC
