Hello Friend,

As we head into the end of this challenging year, our team at the Campaign for Southern Equality is sending you and your loved ones strength and support. We have been so grateful for your support in 2020. It has kept us going – not only functionally, but also spiritually.

Our work has always started with listening closely to what LGBTQ Southerners are saying about their lives, their needs, and their dreams. Those priorities change over time, and they’re particularly dynamic in times of crisis.

This year, we worked to respond to the pandemic, which has had – and continues to inflict – a profound health and economic impact across the South. And in June, we again shifted to respond to the crisis of racial injustice, a long overdue national reckoning.

At CSE, we took all of the tools available to us and pivoted to meet the moment:

  • We shifted our grantmaking program to offer Emergency Assistance Grants to folks impacted by COVID-19 and financial support for community organizations responding to the pandemic.
  • Our team marched in the streets in support of the Black Lives Matter movement; and a group of Southern Equality Studios artists came together to create a series of public art projections focused on racial justice.
  • Through our Supportive Schools program, we provided support to trans and nonbinary kids grappling with the unique challenges of virtual learning.
  • Our programming moved online, with weekly webinars offering community support, walkthroughs of resources for grassroots leaders, art-focused roundtables, and educational materials about healing and resilience.

We have been energized to do this work every day because of donors like you who have stepped up in big ways. And now, I’m asking if you can help us round out 2020 as strong as possible. If you’re able to kick in $100, $50, $5, or whatever you can, please click here to donate.

Thank you,
Jasmine Beach-Ferrara
