The ASPCA is assisting with the rescue of more than 75 animals—including dogs, cats and small equines—from a property in Lake Butler, Florida. We arrived to find the animals living in heartbreaking conditions and exhibiting signs of neglect. Some suffered untreated medical issues that required immediate attention and removal on an emergency transport.
Neonate kittens were found dehydrated, with fleas, and with concerns of anemia and upper respiratory infection, while one dog showed signs of severe anemia. Among the stench of feces and ammonia, dogs and cats were living in unsanitary kennels with painful conditions like overgrown nails, fleas, and eye infections and disease.

The majority of the animals are being relocated to an emergency shelter operated by the ASPCA at an undisclosed location, while the equines are being transported to a veterinary hospital for ongoing care.
Animal cruelty charges are pending based on evidence collected by the Union County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of ASPCA experts.
