John, Additional COVID-19 relief is finally coming. All month, Congressional leaders have been going back and forth in hopes of reaching a deal -- and yesterday, the Senate finally passed the relief bill. It's not perfect, but it's a good start. It will provide much-needed help and support to our communities, and I will continue to fight for sustained relief. This bill provides relief for individuals, families, and small businesses, and helps support our communities by expanding unemployment insurance and rental assistance, creating over 130,000 more affordable homes, and allotting funding to pay essential workers. Here are some of the highlights of the bill:
Plus, it includes many of the priorities I have fought so hard for like expanding access to the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, enhancing the Employee Retention Tax Credit, and building on the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit in order to increase affordable housing production. I know this is not the answer many of you we're hoping for. I know it's not all that I hoped and fought for -- but I do know this is a starting point, and the work continues from here. If you have any additional questions about the bill, you can read more here. Stay safe and stay healthy! Thank you, Suzan DelBene PO Box 477, Kirkland, WA 98083
