We first met Elizabeth — just two years old — when her mother rushed her to an IRC stabilization center for malnourished children in South Sudan.

UPDATE: A generous donor has stepped up to match gifts made today — doubling your impact — until midnight »

John,

This holiday season, far too many refugee parents are asking themselves: "How am I going to feed my children?"

Right now, our IRC team members — including those who helped Elizabeth, pictured above, and her mom in Panthou, South Sudan — are working tirelessly to prevent and treat malnutrition in children and continue our other critical programs worldwide.

But we need your support to keep going, John.

Elizabeth was just two years old when her mother, Adut Lual, rushed her to one of the IRC's stabilization centers for children suffering from malnutrition. Elizabeth was sick with diarrhea and vomiting, growing listless and quiet. Adut Lual had made the six-hour journey on foot — carrying her daughter in her arms the whole way.

Elizabeth was unconscious when they arrived.

"I had never seen anyone die before. But here was my daughter, dying before my eyes,"
— Adut Lual, mother of two-year-old Elizabeth

Thankfully, the IRC's medical staff was able to stabilize Elizabeth.

"The day that Elizabeth opened her eyes again I was so happy," Adut Lual said as she smiled. "I started laughing and called the staff to see. I couldn't stop smiling and saying thank you."

Moments like this, when we see a mother's relief and joy after her child has recovered, are so powerful for all of us.

John, will you make a donation — DOUBLED today — that could help us care for more children and support our life-changing programs in crisis zones worldwide? For example, a gift of $68 could feed 100 children. And a gift of $306 could immunize four chilldren.

Children, like Elizabeth, and their families can't wait.

Thank you so much for your compassionate support this holiday season.
