REP. DEB HAALAND AS INTERIOR SECRETARY WOULD MEAN BAD NEWS FOR NEW MEXICO

This past week, Joe Biden nominated New Mexico U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland to become Interior Secretary.

While it's always flattering whenever a New Mexican is tapped for such a national honor, it's a bad pick for New Mexico. Haaland's extreme position on energy would destroy New Mexico jobs and our important oil and gas industry. Haaland has proven she supports the Green New Deal and opposes fracking, positions that will demolish one of New Mexico’s most critical industries. Haaland’s progressive agenda would make her the most radical left Interior Secretary in the nation’s history.

“Rep. Haaland has constantly voiced her opposition to fracking on federal lands,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “With her as Secretary, she will destroy New Mexico’s vital energy industry. Oil and gas is New Mexico’s bread and butter, providing billions in revenue, more than 40% of our state’s budget and more than 100,000 jobs. This doesn’t bode well for the energy industry as a whole.”

PRESIDENT TRUMP FILES IPRA REQUEST IN NEW MEXICO TO LEARN MORE ABOUT DOMINION VOTING SYSTEMS CONTRACTORS

President Trump has turned again to New Mexico in his fight to seek answers following the November 3 election.

Trump has filed an Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) request with the New Mexico Secretary of State, asking for all information related to Dominion Voting Systems contractors who had access to these voting machines during the voting process.

These contractors may have had "unfettered" access to some voting machines.

This IPRA request relates to so-called “one day contractors” used by Dominion in New Mexico. The CEO of Dominion has admitted that in some states company contractors had access and were even servicing voting machines.

Dominion Voting Systems machines were used in early, absentee and election day voting in New Mexico.

The Trump legal team is also looking into drop boxes used at New Mexico election areas and has asked officials in Dona Ana County for information regarding the election process and counting.

GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM APPOINTS APPELLATE JUDGE TO NEW MEXICO SUPREME COURT

The Governor has tapped Court of Appeals judge Julie Vargas to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat. The Democrat will replace Justice Judith Nakamura, who retired earlier this month.

The governor's appointment means that Democrats now have a true monopoly on the state's highest court. This is bad news when it comes to legal matters as politics will dictate decisions rather than the law.

LAWSUIT CALLS ON STATE TO PROVIDE INTERNET FOR NEW MEXICO STUDENTS

Lawyers representing New Mexico students say the state's effort is "woefully insufficient" when it comes to providing internet access and learning devices to all children. Online schooling means kids have to have computers and internet service, but many students in rural areas and Native American communities are being left out.

The plaintiff's lawyers are asking the court to order the state to connect more children to online learning by immediately identifying students who lack laptops or tablets and providing internet vouchers for at-risk households. Thousands of students are still offline. It's amazing how the Lujan Grisham Administration continues to fail our children.

NEW MEXICO SENDS FAMILY OF STUDENT WHO DIES BY SUICIDE A TRUANCY FORM LETTER

Landon Fuller, an 11 year-old student from Hobbs, took his life back in April. He wrote in his journal that all he wanted to do was play with his friends and go back to school. The day after his tragic death, his parents notified his school and canceled his enrollment. Gov. Lujan Grisham soon promised Landon's mother that mental health would be a top priority.

Nearly eight months after Landon's death, the Public Education Department (PED) sent his family a truancy form letter, asking why Landon wasn't in school!

This exemplifies how out of touch this Administration is. How could the state not know when a student is dead? The state's insensitive action and inability to tackle the mental health issue as a result of online schooling is shocking. The state has no clue how to address our serious student mental health crisis. Other students in New Mexico have also died by suicide.

It's evident that the state doesn't know how to address this crisis and can't get a handle on how online learning is affecting kids around New Mexico.
