Dear John,
Big things are happening in Georgia this week. Here is what you need to know:
1. The House and Senate have passed our bill to rename the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park. President Carter has spent his life making his home of Plains, Georgia, and America a better place for everyone, so it is fitting that we honor him with this change. The Jimmy Carter National Historical Park will increase tourism in Plains for many years to come, as President and Mrs. Carter desire. I urge President Trump to sign this legislation into law.
2. Congress received the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine. Believing in the philosophy of leading by example, I was among the group of congressional members to receive the first dose of the vaccine. This virus has devastated our nation with a disproportionate impact on communities of color. With widespread vaccinations and following the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, we can crush the virus, restart the economy, and put this pandemic behind us. For my full statement following my vaccination, visit my Congressional website.
3. The Moderna vaccine holds promise for rural areas that make up much of the 2nd Congressional District and our nation. Unlike the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine can be stored in standard freezers for up to 30 days once it arrives at its destination. I am hopeful this will make it quicker for every American, regardless of their zip code, to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
I am proud to report progress for Georgia’s 2nd congressional district. Please consider donating any amount to continue our momentum.
