Team, we finally passed a COVID-19 relief package. This bill was long overdue, and it’s far from perfect—but I’m so relieved that we’re getting help to the most vulnerable Americans going into a brutal winter. This package will provide another round of checks directly to individuals and families, while also extending unemployment compensation, hunger relief programs, housing and student loan relief, aid for small businesses, funding for safe school reopenings, and more. These provisions will prevent millions of Americans from jeopardizing their health and wellbeing and losing their livelihoods at the end of what has been an extremely difficult year. While highly necessary for this moment, these measures alone are not enough to help the American people in the long-term. But this is absolutely not the end of the line when it comes to COVID-19 relief, and I will do all I can to help deliver a more robust package in the new year. Thank you so much for making your voice heard in the lead-up to this package, team. When Congress returns in January, and President Biden is inaugurated, we will be in a much stronger position to pass the comprehensive relief that Americans need. We will keep at it.
Thank you,
