The Shape of Things
Four Georgia Districts: GA-03, GA-08, GA-09, and GA-12
The 2020 elections taught us that Georgia should be a competitive state for elections on every level. As our team looks ahead, we're confident this can happen with fair maps during the redistricting process next year. Nonetheless, 2011 showed us how map manipulation can skew election results in gerrymandered states like Georgia.
GA-03, GA-08, GA-09, and GA-12 are home to elected officials who are clearly out of step with the 50-50 nature of their state. All On The Line started the Shape of Things series to shine a light on the undemocratic map manipulating strategies of the past to prevent a repeat. Our education efforts are a key part of our strategy to achieve fair maps.

Here's a deep dive into the four partisan politicians who represent GA-03, GA-08, GA-09, and GA-12. These four men are prime examples of why we need to achieve fair maps in 2021.
1. GA-03: Drew Ferguson
• President Trump is trying to overturn the 2020 election results with the help of his reliable and hyper-partisan ally Drew Ferguson, who is one of the 126 representatives who pledged support to Trump's ridiculous and unsubstantiated election fraud lawsuit led by Texas A.G. Ken Paxton.
• Earlier this year -- Ferguson refused to sign onto a bipartisan resolution condemning QAnon, a far-right movement that peddles racist and baseless conspiracy theories.
2. GA-08: Austin Scott
• As the pandemic threatened access to the ballot box this fall, Scott opposed proposals to mail ballots to all voters which would have made it easier to vote safely.
• Scott also joined his friend Ferguson in signing a legal document in support of Trump's conspiracy filled lawsuit aimed to overturn the 2020 election results.
3. GA-09: Doug Collins
• After Collins waged a losing campaign for the U.S. Senate, he joined in on Trump's election fraud claims and led efforts in Georgia to stir confusion and doubt on our elections.
• Collins' unabashed loyalty to the president's extreme agenda could soon pay off. Trump recently suggested Collins ought to run against Republican Governor Brian Kemp who Trump recently suggested should be jailed.
4. GA-12: Rick Allen
• Unsurprisingly, he's also voiced support for Trump's so-called election fraud lawsuit and officially signed on to the amicus brief along with his colleagues Ferguson and Scott.
We deserve accountable, responsive elected leaders. The election of extreme politicians like Drew Ferguson, Austin Scott, Doug Collins, and Rick Allen in gerrymandered districts represents exactly what's wrong with our democracy.
The AOTL team has a plan to end gerrymandering and prevent politicians like them from taking advantage of our political system just to push their unpopular, extreme agendas onto the American people -- and it's working. Just this month, our Georgia team increased its election education efforts as the state faces a couple of runoff elections in January.
As we look ahead to next year, we're planning to increase our advocacy efforts before map drawing begins. Can we count on you to make a monthly donation right now to support our fight for fair maps? Your donation would make a huge impact during this crucial time.
