John,

Congress just finalized a stimulus package—and after months of advocates fighting tooth and nail, mixed-status families were finally included in relief!

The letters, calls, and tweets you sent to our New York representatives made a huge difference. With your help, we won a significant victory, with nearly 400,000 New Yorkers in immigrant families with an undocumented parentwho had been cruelly shut out before from any Federal reliefwill now receive $600 per family member, plus claim $1200 per family member next year as well.

At a time when immigrant families have struggled immensely, breaking down this barrier will put more than $500 million of Federal relief directly into the hands of New York's immigrant families. This critical infusion of support will help New York's "front-line" essential immigrants pay their rent, put groceries on the table and help them weather the impacts of this pandemic.

We are grateful to Senator Schumer for his leadership in winning a relief bill that includes immigrant New Yorkers who had been previously shut out of all relief. We thank all of  the New York Congressional Delegationincluding Representatives Nydia Velazquez, Grace Meng, Yvette Clark and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezfor their advocacy and hard work!

But we know that this bill will not include ALL immigrant households struggling to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. Our work won’t be done until ALL immigrants—including all undocumented workers who have put their lives at riskcan get the justice that they deserve.

Tell Congress to Pass Freedom Together
Congress can and must do more. That’s why we’re fighting to pass the Freedom Together bill, which would stop ICE in its tracks, create a broad, inclusive path to citizenship for 11 million people, and guarantee the inclusion of all immigrants in pandemic relief and recovery.

Send a message to your representatives and tell them we need relief, recovery, and citizenship for all!

Thank you for being in the fight with us!

In solidarity,

Murad Awawdeh and Rovika Rajkishun
