Dear Transparency Advocate,
While many are still looking for last-minute gifts this holiday, vested interests are shopping for political appointments and policy promises from elected officials for the record-shattering dollars contributed in the 2020 election cycle.
The election cost is projected to surpass $14 billion making it the most expensive by a massive margin. And outside spending groups that include hybrid PACs, super PACs, and politically active nonprofits have spent over $3 billion this election ([link removed]) , more than the previous two cycles combined. Take a closer look at the numbers behind the spending in these joint reports covering both the federal and state levels.

* Women ran, won and donated in record numbers in 2020 ([link removed])
Collecting and analyzing this data isn’t easy. We are grateful for the support you provide ([link removed]) so that OpenSecrets may continue these critical investigations in 2021 to show who's writing checks and who's benefiting.
Best wishes to you and yours this holiday season.
With gratitude,
Sheila Krumholz
