Make A Gift [[link removed]]

Dear John,

This year has challenged all of us, but it has been particularly devastating for low- and moderate-income families of color. COVID-19 and the resulting economic crisis further emphasized that organizations led by and serving communities of color need more intentional support, as they often work twice as hard with half as much.

At Prosperity Now, we believe that to address racial wealth equity we must deploy capacity-building and technical assistance to these organizations to facilitate the delivery of resources.

That is why we invest in leaders like Rashmi Rangan from the Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council [[link removed]].

Rashmi is an alumnus of our Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color Initiative and was one of the many nonprofit leaders who was faced with providing front-line support to her community during the pandemic. Rashmi’s community suffered from job insecurity, predatory lending, housing insecurity and structural violence—issues that affect many communities of color—before the pandemic. In response to the emerging crisis, Rashmi’s credit union made Paycheck Protection Program loans to nonprofit and business owners from the community. They pivoted their financial capability classes online, and supported families who were filing for unemployment insurance, stimulus checks and even executing wills and power-of-attorney documents. Most importantly, Rashmi tapped into the tools she learned though our trainings and began focusing on racial wealth equity, saying that “Inequality kills, and we must do something about it.”

Without Rashmi’s organization and leadership, her community would not have had access to the vital lifeline they needed to keep their businesses afloat while feeding and providing shelter for their families.

Although Congress has approved some relief support, families of color have undergone significant financial strain during this crisis and continue to need your help to have their needs met. Invest in leaders like Rashmi by supporting Prosperity Now today. [[link removed]]

Your gift will directly contribute to building power and the resilience of families and communities of color. It will help ensure that leaders like Rashmi are equipped to meet the immediate needs of their communities, to lead them through the long-term recovery and to provide all families with an opportunity to thrive.

With gratitude,
