The integrity of our elections is at risk. In 2016, the Russian government hacked a major political party and our elections infrastructure, stole documents, and disseminated documents in an attempt to influence our electorate, while foreign actors working on behalf of the Russians systematically endeavored to sow dissension, disseminate misinformation and influence the American electorate.

In response to these attacks, a group of my colleagues and I created Task Force Sentry. This bipartisan task force has been meeting weekly to understand our country’s vulnerabilities and craft legislation to strengthen our defenses and deter future attacks.

As a former CIA officer, I learned firsthand how our enemies can use social media and other tools to undermine our democracy, spread disinformation and fanaticism, and erode faith in our institutions. We must be prepared as a nation for future attacks and this task force is prioritizing that fight.

As we continue to meet, I’ll update you on our fight. This is going to be crucial to protecting the 2020 election and those in the future.

Our campaign is moving forward and each day we’re preparing for 2020 and what will likely be a tough race. Can I count on your support?
