Dear John,

Our two children, Ella and Waylon, were born never knowing a planet without a climate emergency —  and they're just starting to understand what it means for their future.

Here in Maine, the effects of the climate crisis are palpable. The Gulf of Maine is warming, rising and acidifying. We're experiencing more drought, increased tick and mosquito-borne disease, and stress on our farmers and fishers. With a warming climate, our winter tourism industry is taking a huge hit.

But what's happening here in Maine pales in comparison to the devastation — severe drought, rising sea levels, bushfires and cyclones — that some of the most disadvantaged countries across the planet are facing: An environmental justice issue created by the most fortunate harming those who are least responsible for the crisis.

For Ella and Waylon, and the two billion children across the world who may never know a planet without a climate crisis, we must act.

That's why today we're asking you to support our good friends at Maine Conservation Voters. Their top priority in 2021 will be implementing Maine’s bold Climate Action Plan to ensure Maine does its part to slow the climate crisis.

By donating today, your gift will be TRIPLE matched by generous donors, up to $18,000, until Dec. 31, and will be put right to work moving Maine toward a more equitable climate future.

The Climate Action Plan is the pathway forward to reducing emissions by 80% and using 100% renewable energy in Maine – all by 2050. Maine has the opportunity to lead through legislation that puts the Climate Action Plan into action in 2021.

For both of us, it’s especially important that our children are part of a society in which we respect all of humanity—and our natural world. For our children, for yours, and for a more equitable future, please partner with us today. Your end of year donation could accomplish so much good on Earth through climate action right here in Maine.

If you are able, please click here to make a year-end gift to MCV, and your contribution will be tripled before the Dec. 31 deadline.

Thank you for the consideration.

With warmth and light,

Lucas and Yemaya St. Clair, MCV Members
