John --
At last, the House and Senate have reached an agreement on COVID-19 relief. While I am glad that we were able to pass another relief package before the end of the year it should never have taken this long.
The American people have had to face this economic and health crisis on their own for months. Thousands have gotten sick, lost their jobs and their homes, and even more people have died. Meanwhile, Senator Mitch McConnell twiddled his thumbs in the Senate up until the eleventh hour.
John, I want to be clear that this relief package is just the beginning. We'll need to take historic measures in these trying times, and I'm determined to make sure no small business, worker, or community is left behind. And unlike the past president, the Biden administration will be an ally in the work to secure additional support.
I'm proud to share that the latest relief package includes extended federal unemployment insurance, rental assistance, an extended ban on evictions, and relief for our schools. We secured more funding for the Paycheck Protection Program and vaccine distribution. The legislation will also include direct payments of relief up to $600 per adult and child.
We will be experiencing the impact of COVID-19 for the foreseeable future -- and I won't stop fighting for my constituents to overcome the challenges that lay before us. So as we look forward, I'd like to know your top priorities for the new year.
Complete our short survey to let me know what you think about the latest relief package, and other issues -- and how I can keep fighting for you.
