Mitch McConnell tried to block any relief for working families for months — and his loyal footsoldiers Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue were right by his side.
John,
Congress is about to pass the first COVID relief package since the spring, which includes extended unemployment and will prevent some of the worst harm to working families.
But it's not enough. It's not nearly enough.
For 269 straight days, Mitch McConnell has blocked any relief for working families — and his loyal footsoldiers Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue have been right by his side.
They took the proposal for another round of $1,200 checks and watered it down to a measly $600. They held up negotiations to try and get tax breaks and massive giveaways to corporations. And they removed critical aid to states and cities that is needed to prevent massive job losses next year.
There's only one way forward if we want to see the next Congress pass the type of emergency care we need — and that's to put an end to Mitch McConnell's majority in 15 days.
The Working Families Party is dispatching nearly 200 canvassers every day in 13 cities in Georgia to knock on doors and have COVID-safe socially distant, in-person conversations.
Our organizers and activists have made more than 4 million texts and phone calls to support Raphael Warnock and the Democratic ticket since the run-off began.
We're doing all of this because our lives are on the line.
80% of confirmed COVID cases in Georgia are Black people. 50% of COVID deaths in Georgia are Black people. Black unemployment is nearly double white unemployment.
The only way we’ll get the relief we need is to vote out Loeffler and Perdue on January 5th. And if we can sustain high turnout through the end of early voting on January 1st by making sure voters know where and how to vote, that's exactly what we're going to do.
