John, last time I reached out, it was for your help to stop the Ohio state legislation from passing the NRA-backed "Stand Your Ground" bill.

Well, I have bad news: It passed.

This deadly bill is now on its way to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's desk. And I cannot underscore enough how dangerous this legislation is. So-called "Stand Your Ground" laws — which remove the “duty to retreat” during armed conflict — are proven to increase gun homicides. They have even been used to justify shootings of Black Americans, like the tragic murder of Trayvon Martin. 

With your help, we at Brady have fought for months on end to stop this deadly bill from becoming law, and this is our last-ditch effort. Please, John, can I count on you to contact Gov. DeWine right now and demand he VETO this dangerous legislation?

We need Americans everywhere to speak out right now. Together, we can show Gov. DeWine that there is national outrage over this kind of backward legislation. We can show him that Americans are united against this policy, and we refuse to let it pass on our watch — in Ohio or anywhere.
