It's been a long and excruciating fight, but late yesterday Democrats and Republicans finally reached agreement on the details of a $900 billion pandemic relief package.

Several unexpected hurdles came up over the weekend, including a GOP push to tie the hands of the next President on economic policy. I was pleased to be part of the group that ended a last minute impasse over the powers of the Federal Reserve -- and succeeded in preserving the Biden Administration's options going forward.

The COVID Relief package should be ready for a vote and on the president's desk for signature by tomorrow.

Here are some details of what this new relief package will do:

- Fund vaccine distribution and COVID-19 testing and tracing programs;
- Fund food aid programs to fight the growing hunger crisis across the country;
- Extend the moratorium on evictions and establish a rental assistance fund;
- Make additional federal funds available to struggling small businesses through the Paycheck Protection Program;
- Revive expanded unemployment benefits through March 2021;
- Provide a new round of direct payment checks of up to $600 for each eligible adult and child.

This agreement is just a first step. There will be much more work to do over the coming months with the Biden-Harris Administration to help Americans recover from the pandemic and to build back our economy better and fairer. But after nearly nine months of GOP stalling this an important and much-needed step.

Thank you for staying engaged and keeping the pressure on Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans to get this deal done.

30 days to Inauguration Day!

Onwards,
